The following information applies to all sections of Psych 100 EXCEPT Section X.


Psychology 100 is an introductory survey course. We hope your experience in this course will be a positive one. As psychology is a very broad field, this course is divided into eleven topics:

1. Introductory Concepts
2. Development
3. Biology and Behavior
4. Learning and Memory
5. Cognition and Language
6. Consciousness
7. Mental Abilities
8. Motivation and Emotion
9. Stress and Personality
10. Psychology Disorders and Psychotherapy
11. Social Psychology

A section Instructor is in charge of each class. Your instructor will teach the material, develop and grade quizzes and paper assignments, and is available for individual consultations concerning your work and progress in the course.

Please also feel free to contact the Course Director, Sandy Goss Lucas (gossluca@uiuc.edu), or the Associate Course Director, Sarah Grison (sgrison@uiuc.edu), to discuss your work in the course. In addition, Gary Wszalek, Head Advisor (Room 10, Psychology Building), regularly talks to students about such matters as programs for psychology majors, other psychology courses appropriate for non-majors, vocational opportunities in psychology, and registration procedures.
