Within the domain of exercise science I have investigated the role that aerobic fitness and years of education have in preserving brain tissue in older adults. Exercise leads to a massive up regulation of neurotropic factors, angiogenesis, and improvements in cognitive abilities. Education seems to be associated with preserved frontal white matter tracts.
Currently I am exploring research into the interactions of default network activation and task demand in older adults.
