Notes:

  1. In general, student accounts for s.psych should be requested only for graduate students in Psychology or students who otherwise have a long-term relationship with the Department of Psychology. Given that CCSO provides email accounts for all students, problems associated with account transitions (such as email addressing) are minimized if students who have a short-term relationship with the Department of Psychology maintain their email accounts at CCSO.
  2.

  3. Departmental use of stat.psych is generally confined to instructional computing, although limited use by graduate students in support of thesis work is acceptable. Limited use should be interpreted as statistical jobs that complete execution within one or two minutes. More extensive statistical computing, simulations and modeling should be done on systems such as ux6 so as not to interfere with operation of stat.psych for its primary instructional use (as well as data analysis by the CPL, which paid much of the cost of the system).
  4. For security reasons, stat.psych and PC lab server accounts will be deactivated during extended periods of absence unless special arrangements have been made. Note that files will be preserved during an absence even if the account is deactivated.
  5. Psychology faculty who teach Psychology-listed courses are eligible regardless of appointment percentage.
  6. For security reasons, accounts will remain active only at the request of the retiree.
  7. For security reasons, accounts will be deactivated if the retiree is no longer resident within the C-U area unless a special need exists.
  8. For security reasons, use of accounts by visitors who are resident outside the C-U area should be limited to minimize exposure to password snooping on remote networks.
  9. Such accounts will be provided if a special need exists; resources such as disk space are deducted from the account of the sponsoring faculty member. Because such relationships are often short-term, a variety of transition problems are avoided if undergraduate assistants maintain email and related activities on CCSO systems.
